The Barrett family from Michigan came to New Jersey and NYC for the holidays. We took advantage of their hotel swimming pool to introduce Amelia to swimming. She absolutely loved it!

Daddy & Amelia at Church Street Kitchen

There’s a great little restaurant on Church Street in Montclair, NJ called Church Street Kitchen. We went on a Thursday night and the place was practically deserted, which was great since we had Amelia (who was well-behaved the whole time!) with us. I was quite impressed that the live band, who played mostly Joni Mitchell, Dan Fogelberg and Leonard Cohen covers, had a guy named Mark Walsh who sang in a beautiful, deep voice and turned out to be none other than Joe Walsh’s (yes, that Joe Walsh — of The Eagles fame) brother. A quick Wikipedia lookup informs me they both grew up in Montclair. Who knew!

Mommy and Daddy felt cooped up so they hopped in the car and drove to Atlantic City. Here we are learning what a slot machine is at the Borgata. You put money in, and nothing comes out. Adults are strange.
